Things to do:

Many of you know that I have a morbid fear of death. I guess it is the unknown that frightens me so much, but I am also afraid that I will fail to do many of the things I want to accomplish in my life. Here is a list, in no particular order, of what I am afraid I will miss out on:

1. I want to go to Paris, England, Africa, Egypt and Ireland before I am too old to enjoy it.
2. I want to be a photojournalist and be dropped into a volcano to take pictures for National Geographic.
3. I want to be able to run a marathon.
4. I want to see Elton John in concert.
5. Read Moby Dick
6. Kiss my grandchildren (many, many years from now)
7. Vote for Malinda to be president
8. Read a novel written by Brandi Kincaid
9. Hold Kirsten's babies (and not kittens)
10. Watch my children graduate from college and marry the love of their life (preferably before #6)
11. Fly to Chile for the wedding of Christy and Gerado where I will meet some handsome Argentian man and we will be the godparents to Christy and Gerado's 8 children. ok, so maybe that is excessive, both the 8 kids and the man, but I hope Christy will be very happy either way.
What do you most want to do in life? Give me your wildest dream.

I'm on to your tricky game Alicia. What a cheap and dirty way to illicit a response from a bewildered law student--putting an encouraging and flattering comment about me on your blog. Thanks! I'll settle for Senator! Here is my list:

1. Learn how to organize my life
2. Adopt a child
3. Have actual sexual intercourse (a few of you will get this)
4. Work for the UN- hopefully not as a custodian
5. Pay off my ever-mounting student loans and, for that matter, live on money that I actually earn.
6. Read Brandi's novel (a NYTimes Bestseller of course!)
7. Hang Alicia's supercool volcano pictures in my home (The same ones that will be on the cover of National Geographic)
8. SEE Alicia and Brandi in person
9. Never work in a restaurant again
10. Grow old (while maintaining wrinkle-free skin and my ability to use the toilet) with an amazing man.

There may be others, this was on the fly.

Ok, here goes - without boundaries:

1. Publish at least one volume of poetry, one volume of short fiction, and a novel.
2. Own a bookshop with big cushy chairs, a huge children's section, and poetry readings.
3. Live so close to the school where I teach or bookshop I own that I can walk or ride my bike.
4. Cover my walls with original artwork.
5. Be on Malinda's campaign committee.
6. Teach Alicia's brilliant children in college.
7. Read Alicia's son's first novel.
8. Hold my sister's babies.
9. Have an apartment in NY and a little home in Portland, OR
10. Give Kirsten the "I told you so" smile when she has babies.

I think I will add another to my list:
To be a fly on the wall in Malinda's apartment for a weekend. For the love of God! Just Do It!

1. I would love to go to London and see an Andrew Lloyd Webber play before it ever hits the States. I also want to slum around in London for funsies. I want to go on the Jack the Ripper tour.

2. See MeatLoaf again in concert and actually meet him.

3. Be in a musical or on stage at all and for everyone to think my performance was fabulous.

4. Teach a college course of English.

5. Live debt free.

6. Read Alicia and Brandi's fabulous published and critically acclaimed writing.

7. Own a horse.

I'm a pretty boring person, so that's all I can think of for right now.

Here is my list:
1. Be the first to break a big story in journalism.

2. Have a column where I have the freedom to write about whatever I want (even if it is the fascinating world of squash).

3. Make an independent film.

4. Star in my independent film.

5. Buy a house by twenty-five.

6. Get married with total confindence that I will be deliriously happy for the rest of my life.

7. Play with my nieces and nephews (from the fruit of Kirsten's and Jon's loins).

8. Be skinny.

9. Go to South America, Africa, and Australia. (Then I would have gone to all of the continents except for Antarctica-it doesn't count).

10. Write a Christian "how to live a Christian life as a woman" book.

11. Cut a record.
