Since so many of you like stories about my weird school, I thought I would share a picture that I came across to day while looking for something at my mom's. This was a picture I took from the seat of my desk at school. The large "A" stands for A honor role, and the flags are the flags we have to raise when we needed help. The Christian flag for minor emergencies and the American flag when we needed the help of a man (seriously, I am not kidding). If you see anything that strikes you as curios, besides the entire set-up, ask me and I will explain how we did things at Emmanuel.

what did you get all your stars for? :)
The stars are for each "Pace" that we finished. Gold for math, red for english, green for social studies and blue for science. Those books in the left hand corner of the picture are paces and the bible. I am desperately trying to remember what book that was that I was reading . . .
i don't usually comment on random peoples blogs...but...i'm a friend of brandi's, hi!
now what i really want to know is; why would you need help from a man!? was there a lot of heavy lifting at this school? were there pop quizzes on sports stats? did you sometimes need to know the mechanics of peeing standing up?
okay sorry, i just don't get it!!
Shauna, I always see your name on Brandi's blog, so I feel less than random. It was not that we needed men to do any heavy lifting, its just that the women were not allowed to answer the "supervisor" flag. Women were "monitors" and men "supervisors."It was an extraordinarily sexist school. The girls were told the only reason we should go to college is to get our "Mrs. degree." I could tell you many, many stories. . . One day, I will write a book.
It's like The Handmaid's Tale! Scary!
Did you get to bring your own stuff from home to decorate it? Or were they worried you'd bring in pagan items?
We were able to bring in a select few items. As you can see, I have a Garfield eraser / pencil top next to my tissue box. One time, I brought in a small picture of me on my horse and I had to remove it because I was wearing pants in the picture. After that, they banned all pictures from our desks.
